그 남자의 김치
그가
소금에 배추를 절였다.
툭툭 소금을 뿌렸다.
아니 소금을 뿌리쳤다.
뭐라고 할까.
남의 밭에 아무렇게나 툭툭
씨를 뿌리는 듯했다.
어떻게 하면 사람이 그렇게
살수 있을까.
자신의 일을 아무 성의 없이
하는 것 같았다.
저래서 김치나 될까.
맛이나 있을까.
그는 잡히는대로
절인 배추에
염색을 했다.
새빨간 옷감을 아무렇게나
쓱쓱 주워 입혔다.
투박한 게 일하는 것 같지도 않았다.
그냥 장난으로 한 번 툭치고 지나가는
사람 그 이하도 이상도 아니었다.
양념은 켜켜이 자리를 지켰다.
여기서부터 저기까지는 두껍게
거기서부터는 여기까지는
얇게
뭔가 상하 구분이 확실했다.
그런게 김치였다.
